So lately I have been wondering, who will my children become?
This all started when a good friend of mine's child was in a situation. Someone falsely accused this great young one of something. And when people heard that said child had been accused they didn't believe it. Not only the family, but the community, none of them believed it. It turned out they were right to have faith in this kiddo. They had it right. And through it all this child smiled and never said an unkind word about the accuser.
That's what I want for my kids. I want them to be the kind of kids that if a negative word was spoke about them, no one would believe it. I want them to be the kind of kids who would smile and help the hand that had just pushed them down. In the same breath I want them to be able to speak up for themselves and peacefully plead their case.
I want them to grow up and be happy. Whether they are garbage collectors or lawyers. I don't care what their profession is as long as they are supremely happy. In order for this to happen I believe they must grow up to be true lovers of Jesus. They must walk hand in hand with Him everyday. If they keep on the path of righteousness they will be compelled to live lives that please the Lord.
I know kids don't learn to love God and live a right life just by chance. I know they need strong examples. I pray that I am the example they need to grow up healthy and happy. I also pray that the people that they come in contact with in the community, teachers and such, provide a good example for them as well. What my hope is, is that when faced with a bad example in society they are strong enough in their foundation at home not to cave and imitate the bad behavior. To be able to distinguish what is right and wrong and always follow their heart.
I look so forward to seeing who they will be. I can't wait to see what blessings God will bestow on each of them. Until then I will just have to continue to wonder and work toward the goal.

Your post reminded me of what Emily over at the Anderson crew said today: http://andersonfamilycrew.blogspot.com/2013/01/willing-to-wait.html?m=1
ReplyDeleteThat was awesome. Thank you for sharing!
DeleteThis is such a great attitude to have as a parent. My parents had a similar attitude, and I am grateful for that.
